Frequently asked questions

Is it free?
Yes. The Reading and Listening mocks are free, and no card or payment details are asked for.
Do I need to sign up?
No. You can take a test and see your result straight away. Signing in is only needed to save results to your account and track progress.
How is the band calculated?
Your number of correct answers is converted with a widely used public table. It is an estimate, not an official IELTS result, and it is shown only for a full 40-question test.
How is the Listening audio made?
We write the scripts, and the voices are generated with Google Cloud Text-to-Speech in British, American, Australian and Indian accents. In the test you hear the audio once.
How close is it to the real computer-delivered exam?
The layout is the same: text on the left, questions on the right, question numbers at the bottom and the timer at the top. In Listening the audio cannot be paused, and you get 2 minutes at the end to check your answers. All texts and questions are original.
Is this site connected to official IELTS?
No. It is an independent practice platform, not affiliated with or endorsed by the British Council, IDP or Cambridge.
