Free IELTS Listening mock test online
Listening is largely a habit: hear the recording once and write the answer as you go. Here you can build that habit with complete IELTS Listening mocks, free and without signing up.
The test runs like the real one: the audio can't be paused, and you get 2 minutes at the end to check your answers. Then you see your result, an estimated band, and where each answer appears in the transcript.
Exam format
IELTS Listening is the same for Academic and General Training. It is built like this:
- Time: about 30 minutes. On computer you type answers while listening, with 2 minutes at the end to check them.
- Four parts of 10 questions — 40 in total. You hear each recording only once.
- Part 1: two people talking in an everyday situation.
- Part 2: one person speaking on an everyday topic.
- Part 3: two main speakers in an education or training setting.
- Part 4: a single speaker on an academic subject.
- Marking: one mark per correct answer; the total is converted to a band on the 0–9 scale.
The official format mixes several question types: multiple choice, matching, map or plan labelling, form and table completion, sentence completion and short answers.
How our mock works
You can use each mock in two ways:
- Full test. A sound check first, then all four parts in a row. The audio can't be paused or rewound; afterwards you get 2 minutes to check and the test submits itself, just like the exam. Your result includes an estimated band.
- Practice by part. One part at a time, with pause and replay. Handy for working on a weak part; no band is shown.
The screen stays close to computer-delivered IELTS: questions, a number panel at the bottom and status at the top. After you submit, the transcript opens with each answer marked in the text, and you can replay the audio from exactly that point. It is the quickest way to understand why an answer went wrong.
The scripts were written for this project and checked by a teacher. The voices are generated with Google Cloud Text-to-Speech in British, American, Australian and Indian accents. Sign in with Google or Telegram to keep your results.
